About NIT Silchar Karate Dojo in National Institute of Technology Silchar, Silchar

Our dojo started in March,2009 under the able leadership of NIT Silchar alumni Eshan Das, respected faculty advisor, Dr. Ayon Bhattacharjee and our beloved coach, Sensei Ramesh Chhetri. It started with just 12 students. But now its strength stands above 100 students.

"Karate-do" stands for, “way of the empty hand”.
Karate developed in the Ryukyu Islands in present day Okinawa, Japan from pre existing forms of indigenous martial arts developed from Chinese knowledge and teaching in the early 14th century. However, Karate was only introduced into the Japanese mainland and the rest of the world in the 19th-20th century.

Martial arts provide an unparalleled guidance to reach your goals, specifically in the areas of self-confidence, respect, discipline and self-defense.

Our Sensei Ramesh Chhetri is a 4th dan Black Belt Under Karate Assotiation of India(KAI), 3rd dan Black Belt in Shorin Ryu karate and All India Karate Federation(AIKF). He is also trained under the art of Muay Thai and Kick-boxing. His students have performed in international,national and state level competitions and have achieved medals.
He is currently the General Secretary of Cachar district Karate Association and joint secretary of United Karate Association of Assam(UKAA).

NIT Silchar Karate Dojo is affiliated under Okinawan Gojuryu Karate-do India, Mumbai.
Our Dojo follows a strict code of conduct to ensure the safety, progression, and enjoyment of all karatekas.
