About Sishu Tirtha High School in PWD Road, Silchar

Sishu Tirtha was established on 16th April 1975. The founder Secretary of this institute is Miss Mrilnalini Bhattacharjee. Now she is nearing 90 and laid down on bed. She had an idea that she developed following the Language Movement resulted in the death of 11 persons. 11 Language Martyrs. She cherished that since there was no Bengali Private School, her School would be of a super kind so far as Bengali Medium is considered. Another notion played on her. She had some kids one at her home and the rest of her very close relatives, so for their good education in Bengali, Sishu Tirtha was founded. It was located at Gandhi Bagh Road in care of Silchar Sangeet Vidyalaya. Later land was aquired for the institute at PWD Road, Silchar where it is situated now. Now the school is English Medium consisting of the classes from Nursery to Class X. The present Secretary of the institute is Mr. Samar Bijoy Chakraborty. The school is now well boosted with updated curriculum. It is Affiliated to SEBA. There is a proposal of transforming the institute to ICSE / CBSE. Presently the staff strength is as many as 28 in ratio to the student's strength. It is resolved that each class must not be exceeded 30 students. Updated play-way method is applied in teaching. The students have ample scope to generate personality and maintain good health. All, internationally approved human values including cleanliness is practiced at the institute. The institute has a large ground where merry go round, slide, swing etc felicitate to the students to enjoy and get the pleasure of freedom. The institute is at the heart of the town yet away from the din and bustle of the traffic and the foot-passengers.It has an ashramite ambiance. Since it is an English Medium school stress is given on good English both in writing as well as speaking. Pronounciation is strictly maintained following the dictates of BBC Standard. Since it was housed in in the premier music institute of North East region, Silchar Sangeet Vidyalaya, though shifted to a new location,music culture including dance, drama , comics , recitation etc are also inculcated. Above all general education dictated by the syllabus of SEBA is given the top most importance. Finally, apart from result oriented education, the institute gives importance to personality development as well so that our students may become good citizens in future.
