About Chaukhat Bed & Breakfast in Friends Colony, Minnie Bay, Port Blair

‘Chaukhat ’means threshold, or doorway in Hindi. Traditional Indian homes used to have a distinctive doorway, called the Chaukhat through which visitors would enter the dwelling. We have named our Bed & Breakfast ‘Chaukhat’ because we hope that your stay with us will be your entry to the lovely Andaman Islands, which is home to a unique eco system including virgin tropical forests, mangrove creeks and rich underwater life.

Located just five minutes from the airport, Chaukhat is only ten to fifteen minutes from most places of interest in Port Blair including the jetty, Water Sports Complex, museums and the famous Cellular Jail.

Your stay with us comes with a choice of Western or Indian complimentary breakfast. We also provide a simple homely pre-booked dinner to those not planning to eat out, for a nominal charge. All meals are served in the dining area.

A refrigerator is provided in the common area for guests’ use.

‘Chaukhat’ also has an elegant and well-furnished living area with a library nook containing books and magazines. There is also a computer area with complimentary internet and a printer.
