Youth for Transforming Nation is a Non Governmental Organization based in Kullu with its target areas in and around the same region. It saw its inception in July of 2011 since when it has constantly worked in areas of social relevance. Projects and campaigns to clean the area leading up to Bijli Mahadev temple have been undertaken at least 8-9 times till now. They have included volunteers collecting the garbage and dumping it away properly and spreading awareness using pamphlets and posters on various occasions. We have also taken up anti tobacco campaigns to make the youth more aware of its consequences. Installation of computers free of cost in low economically sound schools in and around Kullu district and also giving out instructional classes on them has been another of our campaign. Providing stationary and clothes to needy children has been a constant task which we have fulfilled.
We have also conducted candle marches and demonstration in support of various issues of national importance such as the Delhi rape case in December 2012. We have also engaged ourselves in extensive efforts of cleanliness programs in schools and other organizations. Under the ambit of cleaning campaigns we have covered areas like Bijli mahadev, Manikaran, Loran, Dhalpur and a few other adjoining areas around Kullu.
We have held campaigns in which we have distributed free medical instruments such as wheel chairs, hearing aids etc to people who were in need. Complete co-operation and participation in World Wide Fund’s Earth Hour campaign was also one of our key highlight.
After completing around 2 years we are now looking forward to expanding in areas of blood donation, Adoption of needy children’s well being and Adoption of trees.
We are trying to create a blood donation database which would include individuals of different blood groups who would agree to donate blood at any point of time when required. We are also creating a setup where we could motivate individuals to adopt an underprivileged child in the sense that they could look after their yearly expenses and need. Another potential future program of ours is individuals adopting trees with the help of District Forest Department Kullu & G.B. Pant Institute in Kullu and looking after them with commitment. The trees would include species such as Deodar, Cedar among a few other locally found species.
