About Parthivapuram in , Kanyakumari

The name Parthivapuram is attached after the presence of Lord Sree Parthasarathy. Parthasarathi temple was built by the Ay king Karunandadakkan and consecrated in 857 A.D. The temple is a fine example of the tritala vimana, built on a square plan from adhisthana to sikhara . The temple facing the west consists of Garbhagriha , Pradakshina-patha and a projecting Mukha mandapa . The portico is associated with a flight of steps on either side. In front of the portico stands a Namaskara mandapa with granite base and tiled pyramidical roof. It is a sandhara vimana of the classical style

Representing the early phase Kerala temple architecture, the main shrine known as Parthasarathi temple is in fact a Vishnu shrine. The shrine is a classical sandhara vimana of the imperial Chola period (circa A.D.1000).
