The name Patola is derived from the Sanskrit word “Pattakulla” which means finely dyed fabric.
Patola sarees are woven with great clarity and precision by tie-dye method. Tying is carried out on silk as per the geometrical designs with folk motifs, than dyes applied to give flaming bright colours to the tied silk. These silk fabric has created colorful traditional silk patola sarees with trendy, unique and attractive patterns with eye-catching motifs as additional embellishments. They are well known all over the world for their highly delicate patterns. Weaving is Supervisioned by experts to maintain the quality fabric. The traditional designs in a patola are based on a traditional motifs called “Bhat”. These designs include “Narikunj”, “Paan”, “Chowkadi”, “Chhabdi”, “Navratana”, “Paanchphul”, “Laheriya”, etc. Some geometrical designs also used like flowers, animals, birds, human figure, etc.
A unique feature that distinguishes Patola saree from other textiles is that the saree even after heavy wear and tear will never fade in color or design. Woven so well that the front and back are indistinguishable from each other, and a colorful feast for the eyes.
