The term ''Germ" in Wheat Germ doesn't mean bacteria. It is the short form for Germination. Wheat Germ is the Heart Of The Wheat as it supplies all the nutrients to the plant to grow.

Wheat Germ comprised of only 2 to 3 percent of total wheat kernel but it is the most nutritional part of the wheat. It contains altogether 23 vital nutrients among which it is the richest source of Vitamin A and Folic Acid.

But unfortunately such a nutritious part of the wheat is removed while milling the wheat into the flour in order to increase the shelf life of the flour. Wheat Germ has a very short span of life.

This loss of nutrient in the flour could be compensated by adding wheat germ flakes in our diet.
