About Andhra Capital Amaravathi in kanuru, Vijayawada

Amaravathi to reflect AP's culture
I am extremely happy that our government has passed a resolution declaring the new capital city's name as Amaravathi.
Our state, Andhra Pradesh, is a magnificent state which has historical, cultural and ecological significance. It is also one of the most desirable states.
Amaravathi will retains its historical significance yet reflect modernity.
Amaravathi, located on the banks of river Krishna, is referred to as Amareswaram, for its famous Amareswara temple dedicated to Lord Siva.
It is also known as 'Dakshina Kashi' (Kashi of the South).
The recorded history of Amaravathi also known as ‘Abode of the Immortals’ dates back to the Satavahanas to 2ndCentury B.C.
The cultural significance of the town has strong roots to the Buddhist culture. The Great Stupa is engraved with intricate carvings depicting the life and times of Gautama Buddha.
I hope that the new capital will open new ventures for other Buddhist-dominant countries to look towards our state. This city has the potential to attract numerous foreign tourists.
I thank the people of Andhra Pradesh for supporting our government's decision in naming the capital as Amaravathi. I'm confident that our new capital will compete with other capitals of the world.
