About Rangaprabhath - The Children's Theatre in Alumthara, Thiruvananthapuram

Rangaprabhat is a living monument to a master craft man and his disciple in Theatre who dreamt of a Children’s Theatre for the holistic development of children through a conscious weaving of education and arts. The master is Prof. G. Sankara Pillai and the disciple is Guru Kochunarayana Pillai. Their association led to the blossoming of India’s first community oriented children’s theatre at a village called Alumthara, 25 kilometres north of Thiruvananthapuram city, Kerala’s capital. Began as a small experiment in story telling the initiative gradually grew into a Centre for dedicated experiments in children’s education through arts.
