About National Domestic Workers Movement - Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram, Thiruvananthapuram

NDWM expanded to Kerala in 1999 and it was the first organisation in Kerala that formed to understand and respond to issues faced by domestic workers. Through our efforts, domestic workers have become organised and they have influenced historic changes in policies of governments and attitudes of people.

Migrant Forum India became active in Kerala in 2003 and continues to work with migrants and their families at the grassroots level. Migrant domestic workers are particularly vulnerable since their place of work is their employer's home. Exploitation and abuse is justified since many do not view domestic work as work.
