Ever since its inception on 29 December, 2009 under the tutelage of the Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation(KSWDC), the Resource Enhancement Academy for Career Heights (REACH) has been winning many an accolade in the professional scene. It takes KSWDC’s egalitarian ambition a step forward by addressing the challenges of a questing globalized market. REACH is a professional grooming academy, first of its kind at a governmental level, which seeks to unearth bold voices that are imprisoned by societal apprehensions.
The uncompromising standards of training it employs within a highly sophisticated ambience, wafts jubilant attitudes and strong personages. The many anxieties of our women
population ,that exude from a stratified set up ,are plowed into bold personalities ,conscious of their individual strengths and capacities at REACH. The most distinguishing feature of this academy is the democratic attitude it takes towards admissions. It evens out economic hurdles in the accessing of resources and provides equal opportunities for both APL and BPL candidates in making use of its facilities. BPL students are given free training while a nominal fee is charged for students of the APL category. Educational bindings are of little compulsion to REACH aspirants for here it is the desire to come out and make a mark of oneself in the world outside that matters most .REACH sets no age limit restrictions either. However, the minimum educational qualification necessary to enrol at REACH is 12th standard. This is only to ascertain that the resources at the academy can be manipulated to their best.
The REACH certification programme runs for a period of two months, after which the students are provided a certificate which holds them in favour of the market outside. During these two months, the students are given intensive training in life skills, body language, image development, communication skills, attitude, self-esteem boosters, accounting skills etc. In addition to this, students can also opt for IELTS coaching. This is to ensure that proactive career-driven women are not shackled by geographic boundaries and are able to make good use of their opportunities, wherever they are. Such a coaching, given on a governmental platform, is also the only one of its kind in the whole of our country. Bringing out confident and vibrant women professionals fully in charge of their talents and capabilities is the singular concern of REACH. According to the differing skill sets of its wards, they are given jobs that will pave their way into economic independency, which is the most important ingredient to empowerment.
