The house boat came into being during the British Era, when the Maharaja of Kashmir refused them permission to build on dry land. The resourceful Britishers took to the water, living in ornate houseboats. The style has hardly changed from the first houseboat built by Mr. Conard in 1888 right down to boats being built today and since than the houseboat become mascots of Kashmir Tourism and gained a world wide acclaim.

If your dreams include a sojourn on a houseboat in Kashmir, Kingfishers darting between the blossoming lotus and snowcapped mountains lining the horizon, and each day concluded by a sunset of copper and gold, then imagine yourself on Nagin Lake.

Three houseboats are moored to the island, each with its own porch facing North across the open water, the “New Golden Flower” houseboat group owned by the Dunoo family. The boats have combine modern amenities, such as electricity and hot showers, with a cuisine and impeccable service cultivated over many decades and handed down from one generation to the next.

Our houseboats are categorized in the Deluxe category and each boat has an assorted number of three to four bedrooms with a private bath. The houseboats also have a fine dining area and a lounge cum sitting room and are complete with a large front seated balcony, a sun deck and a small kitchenette. We generally have a 24 hour power back up and clean water supply. Each of our houseboats has a cook and a care taker who work for you during your entire stay.
