jammu & Kashmir Sainik School, Manasbal is an English medium residential school for boys providing public school education of a high standard. The school is run by J&K Sainik School Society and is affiliated to the central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi for All India Secondary and Senior School Certificate Examinations.....

The foundation stone of the school was laid on October 29, 1980 by Late Jenab Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the then Chief Minister of J&K. The school started functioning from September 14, 1981.........

Set in the foot hill of the Mountains adjescent to Manasbal Lake is located the J& K Sainik School Manasbal, The only school of its kind in the Valley. 1st batch of students was slected in 1981. It all started with only one building under the able leadership of school's first Principal Late Sh. J K Gandhi, Wing Commander (Retd.)and some dedicated teachers and a wonderful batch of 60 Talented students selected from all over the valley.
