About Shillong MUN in Shillong, Shillong

Shillong Model United Nations is a legally registered youth organisation as per the provisions of the Meghalaya Societies' Registration Act, 1983.

Shillong Model United Nations (Shillong MUN) was founded by Keith T. Nongsteng and Malaya Baishya, both college students, with the primary intention of spearheading the Model United Nations culture in the North Eastern region in general and the state of Meghalaya in particular. The NPO is composed entirely of young student leaders from around the country who voluntarily work to ensure that the goals of Shillong MUN successfully materialise into reality.

The aim and objective of Shillong MUN is to build the leadership qualities and communication skills of the youth of this country through diplomacy and conflict resolution skills. To realise this dream, the procedures of Model United Nations (both UN4MUN and UNA-USA) is used as a fundamental medium of learning. Furthermore, the NPO seeks to engage students in a fun and interesting educational platform where they learn not through "boring" classroom sessions, but through actual "exciting" MUN simulations to address the various problems they have been assigned to deal with. Besides MUN, the NPO also conducts seminars and workshops on various issues of local, national and international importance.
