VIKASH GUPTA
Social Worker | Ward Commissioner 19 South Shillong

Accomplished social worker & Ward Commissioner (Independent) of 19 South Shillong with a successful track record overseeing local public issues.

Who Am I?

Vikash Gupta was born on 14th November 1976 on Children's Day at Shillong to a middle class family. His father Late Shri Ramji Prasad was a school teacher in Gandhi Buniyad School and was an active social worker and the founder of "Art Of Living" in Shillong. His mother Srimathi Sona Devi was a house wife. Vikash Gupta is the eldest of two sons of Shri Ramji Prasad.

Vikash Gupta was born a social worker with traits from his biological father Late Shri Ramji Prasad and it is right to say that his passion for social justice, making a tangible difference in the community and resolving people’s problems makes him the ideal candidate for a demanding position in serving the general public & mainstream politics.

A confident, articulate and multi-faceted social worker cum Ward commissioner of 19 South Shillong who is well-respected by the electorate in his native Ward and beyond. Like his father since childhood he wanted to serve and help the needy people of Shillong but his experience in the social work for the public was met with stiff resistance from the ruling class and hence decided to elevate himself by standing for ward elections in 2015 and he is now the Ward Commissioner of 19 South Shillong. Being heard and making a difference; are one among many reasons he wanted to get into politics.

Reason for becoming a Ward Commissioner from being Social Worker

His social work activities were welcomed with stiff violent disruptive opposition from the ruling class in Shillong for several years. He had no choice but to stand as an Independent Candidate for Ward Commissioner elections in 2015 and also ensured that 6 other wards were won by Independents of his choice. He was able to perform his social work activities and achieve social justice for the public in his ward to certain extent and now he is looking forward to taking the next big step in Shillong politics for the betterment of the common people in 19 South Shillong Constituency.
