About Nave Technical Institute in Lodhipur, Shahjahanpur

Nave Technical Institute is situated one mile east of Shahjahanpur, U.P. established over a century ago in 1858 by Colonel John Gowan of British Army. The land was bought in Lodhipur from Nawab Inayat Khan and an orphanage was built which was looked after by an Irish lady Clementine. Later on Colonel Gowan and Captain Samuel Anderson resigned from Army and used their retirement money to set up a India’s first Vocational Training Institute which was known as Lodhipur Community School till 1970.

Inspired from this, India’s First Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and India’s Second President Dr. S. Radha Krishnan developed Industrial Training Programme in to I.T.I. with help of Dunwoody School, America which was N.T.I.’s Technical Education Partner.

In 1958, Rev J.W. Nave and his son R.W. Nave developed Vocational School into I.T.I. Some years later the new technology in Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning was introduced with help of Germany. The Institute was also the Service Provider for Voltas which is owned by Tata. Gradually developing in to an industrial school since 1959, Nave Tech eventually became a full-fledged Technical Institute which is today.

This institution is declared as one of the Heritage Institutions by Govt. of India. Nave Technical Institute gives training both in Technical and Vocational trades. The courses are affiliated with National Council for Training in vocational trades and Directorate of Social Welfare, U.P. and National Institute of Open Schooling, New Delhi.

The innovative learning programme in the Institute has helped it to emerge as a centre of excellence and global excellence. The global volunteers from Germany, U.S.A. and Japan frequently visit and share their thoughts and experiences with students and staff.

Nave institute also has a unique global volunteer exposure project which enables foreign nationals for educational tourism where they get a chance to visit Taj city- Agra and Pink city-Jaipur.

Presently Nave Education Society is running this Technical Vocational school along with an I.C.S.E./I.S.C school and U.P. Board Intermediate College which will soon get affiliated with C.B.S.E. Board Govt. of India.

The present Director, Dr. Ashish K.S. Massey has been honoured by Govt. of U.P. with U.P. Ratna Award and was assigned Chairmanship of State Minority Commission, Govt. of U.P. with status of a Minister.

Keeping in view the demand, one Women Degree College and Polytechnic is also in process of emergence.
