About Functional Vocational Training and Research Society Hyderabad in Plot 253 Trimurthi Colony Mahendra Hills East Marredpally, Secunderabad

The seed for effectively orchestrating on the need for vocational training in the unorganised sector was instituted by Misereor - a German funding agency - from 1993 following the realisation that non-formal vocational training was a very critical need in India, and that it is needed special focus and support in addition to the regular support provided by Misereor to its partners for other development interventions. The focus was on making the target community – school dropout and illiterate youth – employable by building skills to earn a living in a job of their choice, preferably as entrepreneurs to effect more employment for others. The accent was not to prepare youth for wage employment but for entreprise development.

In 2004, these action strategy and concerns got formalised and a new Society was registered under Karnataka Societies Act 1960 by name ‘Functional Vocational Training and Research Society’ (FVTRS) with its headquarters at Bangalore in India. The main purpose of setting up FVTRS initially was to organise professional coordination and effective monitoring of vocational training projects funded by Misereor, followed by addressing the skill deficit by joining hands with all concerned stakeholders.
