Sunshine Pre-School:

The Three Pillars of our education system:
The basic concept of education at Sunshine Pre-school is based on three major pillars; The Child, the teacher and the Parent.

Environment at School and Home:

Together, the child, teacher and parent, combine to create an ‘environment’ not only in school but also at home, where ‘learning becomes a pleasure’.

This ‘environment’, fosters the development of the ‘Spirit of Inquiry’ in each child, who is allowed to pursue his daily learning activity, independently and joyfully, since each learning module is creatively designed to make the learning process joyful.

Sustaining the above mentioned environment, throughout the academic year on a daily basis is an extremely challenging task, because it calls for extraordinary qualities of ‘patience’ from our teachers. Our teachers are not only patient, but are trained to be sharply ‘observant’ and ‘sensitive’ to the specific needs, shortcomings and talent of each child. Hence our motto -‘Every Child is Special’.

Every child is special for its parents, but to make the child ‘extraordinary’, it is equally important for a similar environment to exist at home. Hence, regular seminars are held at the school for parents, where they learn child psychology and good parenting.

In addition, we foster and strengthen the child-parent-teacher relation by holding various activities which strengthen the bond between not only the child and its parents but also with their teachers. This is achieved through picnics, projects, dramatics study tours and cultural programmes, where the child participates in each activity, alongside his parents and teachers. This creates a very strong bond, which greatly facilitates the learning process not only in school but also at home. Since all three, the child, parent and teacher are on the same page at all times.

“So what has shooting got to do with education?” You may well ask. Shooting is a sport where you are your own opponent, where you only have yourself to blame for failure. Unlike team games such as cricket, football etc., where the blame for failure, can be conveniently passed on to somebody else.

In order to succeed in shooting, one has to constantly strive with oneself, to be humble enough to acknowledge one’s own shortcomings and creative enough to find ways and means of overcoming these shortcomings. This process leads to ‘self-Learning’, which is ‘true education’ as propounded by the ancient Greeks – ‘Know, thyself’.

‘If you ‘know yourself’, you know others. If you can motivate yourself to learn, you can motivate others to learn.’

The education system at Sunshine pre-school, specifically the concepts of the ‘Three Pillars’ and ‘Environment’ are not borrowed words, which are printed here, to sound good to the reader. These have been forged , from the thirty five years of combined experience of the promoters, who have treaded the path of ‘Know Thyself’.
