About Morior Invictus in Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Rangpo

MORIOR INVICTUS is the Group of 25 Students from Sikkim Manipal Institute Of Technology participating in SAE SUPRA.

SAEINDIA was formed in India in 1994-95 with Dr. Pawan Goenka, appointed as advisor for India. The SAE president held discussions with the Indian automotive industry and as a result, the Western India Section was established.SAEINDIA sections were formed all across the country. In 2007 Baja SAEINDIA was launched which proved to be the growing crop of engineers from colleges across the country to showcase their talent and fuel the growth of the Indian automotive industry.In 2008, Formula SAEINDIA was launched with the name of SUPRA SAEINDIA. This event provides a real world engineering challenge for the SAEINDIA student members that reflects the steps involved in the entire process from design and engineering to production to marketing and endurance.
The prototype race car is to be evaluated for its potential as a production item. The target marketing group for the race car is the non-professional weekend autocross racer.Each student team designs, builds and tests a prototype based on a series of rules, whose purpose is both ensuring on-track safety (the cars are driven by the students themselves) and promoting clever problem solving.
Students are allowed to receive advice and criticism from professional engineers or faculty, but all of the car design must be done by the students themselves. Students are also solely responsible for fundraising, though most successful teams are based on curricular programs and have university-sponsored budgets. Additionally, the points system is organized so that multiple strategies can lead to success. This leads to a great variety among cars, which is a rarity in the world of motor sports.
