About APOL in Tulsibari/তুলসীবাৰী, Rangia

Introduction:-
The establishment was engaged manufacturing of synthetic blended spun yarn from last 26 years when it was first commissioned on 24th June 1988. The society was registered under the Assam Co-operative Society’s Act 1949 with its name as “Assam Polyester co-operative Society Limited” (in short APOL) since 14th September 1981. It also set up weaving and processing unit since 1991 and introduced as the first composite entity in Assam, under the one roof. It has created many milestones like producing good quality finished yarn both grey and dyed, fabrics of various qualities and end use until it was declared closure on dated 25th December 2003 due to financial crisis.
The organization again revived with financial aid from Govt. of Assam, with effect from 1st of June 2006 and only the spinning unit was revived with limited fund and manpower. The two units namely the weaving and processing was disposed off as the units reported to be non viable from experts on the textile field.
After reopening, APOL was marketing its products i.e. grey yarn to buyers who are basically dyer without much difficulty and the yarn quantity it produces was sold out at a reasonable profit margin. But due to present market conditions and fluctuation of price of raw material this could not be maintained. APOL has to face tough competition from outside yarn supplier. Also deterioration in market condition, demand etc. for one or other reasons including low crude oil price, a huge stock of yarn is accumulated posing shortages of funds for society’s activities.
Due to paucity of working capital funds APOL business is now not enough to meet its expenditures and hence approach for private funding and also Assam Govt. for funds to continue works for bread and butter of about 600 employees and also their families.
