Rajahmundry/ RajamahendravaraM is a beautiful and historical city in Andhra Pradesh. Located at the bank of River Godavari, Tagged as "cultural capital for Telugu People", It is the birth place of the Telugu language. Adi Kavi or ‘Original Poet’ Nannayya gave Telugu grammar and a script here. Ever since, the city has been home to many famous literary personalities. Rajahmundry has rich cultural and historical past.

Rajahmundry, also known as Rajamahendri & Rajamahendravaram, is a pilgrimage place in Andhra Pradesh. one of the first capitals of many celebrated telugu kingdoms. (Over time, The city was ruled by many dynasties including the Chalukhyas, the Kakatiyas, and the Reddys. In the eighteenth century, it came under French Rule. Finally in British Rule) In the 15th cent Rajahmundry was a fortress town of the Bahmani and Vijayanagar kingdoms. In Madras Presidency,The district of Rajahmundry was created in 1823.The rajahmundry district was reorganized in 1859 into two - the Godavari and Krishna districts.During British rule, Rajahmundry was the headquarters of Godavari district. Godavari district was further bifurcated into East and West Godavari districts in 1925.

Present day Rajahmundry is an industrial and trading hub. It is the second biggest cloth market in India. Its Bandarulanka production unit is famous for sarees with golden and silver borders. Rajahmundry is home to many multinationals - ITC Ltd., GlaxoSmithKline, GVK Industries, Internationl paper mills, O.N.G.C, Gail India ltd, to name a few.
