GREETING and BACKGROUND
Namaste from India!
I am Hari, the primary teacher of Brahmavidya Yoga Centre Goa.* Combining the venerable and ancient texts of yogic wisdom and philosophy with contemporary practices, our centre seeks a true synthesis of body, mind and spirit. It facilitates the evolution of the complete human being, centred in the highest consciousness.
My primary Guru is Bhagawan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri and Kanhangad (1897-1961); I study presently with Swami Vijayananda of Anandashram Bevinkoppa. Thus, I humbly seek to imbue all my teachings with the highest consciousness. Whether students and teachers are practicing asana (postures), dhyana (meditation), pranayama (breath control), or yoga nidra (yogic sleep), we are centred in the Divine Shakti - Universal Power - which flows through Bhagawan Nityananda.

PRACTICES and TERMINOLOGY
Asana, or yoga postures, are the physical aspect of yoga practice. They facilitate physical health, the mental focus needed for effective work, and the posture for deep, transforming meditation.
Avaduta. One who has transcended all the sorrows of this world, and is no longer bound by rebirth to physical suffering and karma.
Ayurveda. "The Science of Health," India's ancient and venerable system of healing and health, based on diet, massage, and natural medicines.
Brahmavidya. The knowledge of Brahman, or universal consciousness as described in the texts of Vedanta (the Upanishads).
Hatha yoga. The physical aspect of yoga (union), which includes asana (postures), pranayama (breath control), and yoga nidra (conscious, yogic sleep). Self-control is gained, helping us to give up undesirable thoughts and habits.
Jnana. Self knowledge, the capacity to understand one's unity with the Atman, or Great Universal Self. All our Centre's practices are focused on realising this reality.
Peeth. "The seat of highest consciousness." A centre or school, usually associated with spiritual aspiration and yoga.
Prana. Vital force, or vitality, expressed by the breath.
Pranayama. Control of the breath beyond its normal limits, to improve concentration for physical health, work and meditation.
Yoga. "The union of the individual with universal consciousness." In our Centre, this union is faciliated by hatha yoga (asana, pranayama, yoga nidra, self discipline), and meditation.
Yoga nidra. Psychic sleep, serves to create a one-pointed mind, and to relax the whole being. It is an especially useful remedy for imbalances such as fear, tension, anger, or addiction.
