About Kashipur Michael Madhusudan Mahavidyalaya in Kashipur, Purulia

It was the 26th day of September, 2000 when the college was established in the name of the great Bengali poet MichaelMadhusudan Dutta (1824–1873) who joined as legal advisor of Raja Nilmoni Singhdeo of Panchakote Raj in September,1872 and then he was appointed as treasurer of the estate. In the year 2000, the college got its initial approval from the University of Burdwan. The college has attained a glorious height in the field of education in the very decade of its establishment. In the year 2000 the collegereceived approval for its degree courses inHumanities by virtue of the efforts of the Government of West Bengal. In the 2005-06 academic session, the college began its journey in Bio-Science stream also. In October, 2003, the college was registered to receive Central assistance in terms of Rules framed under Section- 2 (f) and 12 (B) of the U.G.C. Act, 1956.Vision of the Mahavidyalaya:1. To become one of the best educational institutions to serve the needs of higher education to the poor rural students.2. To nurture the feeling of life-long indebtedness towards the Institution.3. To run in tune with the ideas of education in youth discipline propounded by Swami Vivekananda.4. To make gradual development, self-realization and unfolding of one’s personality as propounded by Kabiguru Rabindranath.5.
