SHARON SOCIETY Stands for “Service Home for the Aged, Rehabilitation, Orphanage and for Novice of life” and had been the brain child of Social Activists with rural, simple and humble background. The society had been registered under the societies registration act, 1860 in the year 2002 and assigned Registration number 675/ 2002.
SHARON Society is a grass root level voluntary organization working for the upliftment and holistic development of children, women, adolescent girls, youth, differently abled and HIV/AIDS affected persons through awareness campaigns, Sensitization meets, capacity building exercises, vocational trainings, tuition centers, care and support to aged etc,
From a humble beginning during the year 2002, the society has grown like a well rooted banyan tree having earned a name in the Union Territory of Puducherry. We have accomplished very good mileage in the development of Senior citizens children, women, adolescent girls, youth, self-help groups, and addicts, HIV +ve etc during the year 2010-11 with the support of the generous public and Government of Puducherry.
The Society’s Vision is to contribute towards sustainable Human Development through initiating and executing development activities that result in substantial improvement in the quality of life of the disadvant aged.
SHARON Society has started a home for the Senior citizens at Puducherry, a dream project during the year 2008. With the generous help of the generous public, the society has started the old age home with 10 inmates from 2008.
This home has the Facilities for accommodating around 25 senior citizens with proper sanitation and Recreation facilities. At present we have 15 inmates. A Home for helpless old people, who have been neglected by their families, we provide Love, Care, Food, Shelter, Clothing, Medicine,Yoga, Sight seeing and other essential things needed for the survival they are being maintain in the home till their death. We take homely care and facilities are extended to give them a homely feel and that too giving them freedom to lead self-desired and independent life. We have built well equipped "HOMES” having facilities like TV, News paper, Telephone, 24 hours hot and cold water, attached toilets etc.
The services of a medical officer have been finalized for periodical health checking of the inmates. Proper counseling and guidance have been imparted to the inmates so that they can enjoy their remaining days in the earth peacefully.
SHARON Society had recently started a wellbeing centre for Senior Citizens at Puducherry on November 14th 2011. Senior Citizen’s Wellbeing Centre was inaugurated by Senior Superintend of Police Dr. Chandiran and S.V. Iyyer, Senior Citizen President at No.29, 1st Main road, Kurinji Nagar, Puducherry. Right from the day of opening services such as Physiotherapy care, Counseling, Guidelines, Day care center and also a General Library for elders has been successfully operated.
We feel proud in recording the patronage and help extended by the Philanthropists, Government Officials and Well-wishers in cash and kind towards the successful implementation of the interventions we had initiated during the year 2010-11 and thank one and all
