Pithoragarh is a city with a Municipal Board in the Pithoragarh district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, which was carved out of the Almora district in 1960.Pithoragarh is located at 29.58°N 80.22°E.] It has an average elevation of 1,514 metres (4,967 feet)."The district is named after its headquarters town, Pithoragarh.
