ABOUT TAEKWONDO
A brief introduction of Taekwondo is a Korean way of self defense in which literal meaning, tae – hands ; kwon- feet and do – art/skill, virtually speaks about the martial nature of the game. Taekwondo is headquartered in Kukkiwon, Seoul, South Korea.

Taekwondo sparring , in 1980, was given status of sports discipline by Olympic Charter in Moscow. After passing thorugh several difficult phases Taekwondo was organised as a Demonstration sport in 1988 Seoul Olympics and 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Finally in 2000 Sydney Olympics Taekwondo sparring was made medal sport which was a big break through for Taekwondo lovers all over the world. Taekwondo, now, is not only a Martial art but an Olympic sport which is a boon to those who practise this art.

In India Taekwondo was founded in 1976 by two Masters viz. Puran Andrew Gurung and Jimmy R. Jagtiani in Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh simultaneously. Due to difference of opinion and ego both masters opened two different organisations Viz All India Taekwondo Federation and Taekwondo Federation of India. But due to lack of proper organisational skills All India Taekwondo Federation run by Master Puran A.Gurung died out as Taekwondo Federation of India run by Master Jimmy R.Jagtiani got affiliation from The World Taekwondo Federation, apex body and authority of Taekwondo in the entire world. Taekwondo Federation of India got recognition from Indian Olympic Association, Sports Authority of India and Ministry of Youth Affairs, Govt. Of India.

ABOUT ACADEMY
Sports Stars Academy was founded by Ashwani Sharma in 2002. It initially started with six students, and now it has reached out to 7 coaching centers / 12 Schools / 4 Colleges and has an affiliation in more than 500 students in and around Haryana

Today, under the guidance of Ashwani Sharma, Director and Devkant Sharma,Chairman, the players of the academy have participated in National as well as International events and have bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. The academy endeavors to shine brighter in the future and aims to motivate its students to pursue their dreams of achieving gold in the sport of taekwondo.
