About Sarkaria Cactus Garden, HUDA, Panchkula in Service Road, Panchkula

Dr. J. S. Sarkaria National Cactus and Succulent Botanical H.U.D.A. Garden and Research Centre is home to thousands of cacti and succulent plants of amazingly different shapes and sizes. There are many rockeries and several greenhouses. A botanist-manager and several gardeners take care of this natural treasure . Quite a few of the current care-takers were trained by the garden’s founder-curator, Dr. J. S. Sarkaria (1919-2004; surgeon, painter, plant-lover and founder of the National Cactus and Succulent Society). It was due to Dr. Sarkaria’s earnest and loving efforts over many years that this garden—later re-named to honour his memory—came into being.
