Vice Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya, a poetess and host of many programmers’ on social issues on Doordarshan, Jalandhar and All India Radio, Jalandhar .

After retiring from their respective professions, they wanted to spread education and awareness among the underprivileged children of the society. Therefore, in 2003, they started with 3 children in a park adjacent to their house in Sector-29, Faridabad. Maids working as helpers in the houses, rickshaw pullers, auto drivers, taxi drivers who are so poor that they cannot afford to send their children to school are given free education. Today, Jan Jagriti hosts 90 children to whom apart from free education, free stationery, clothes and gifts are also distributed.
Society, which now has 22 members, believes in holistic development of the children and therefore moral education, social development, patriotism, respect for women, old and disabled is also stressed upon. It is a living example of Unity in diversity where all festivals like Diwali, Dussehra, Holi, Eid and Christmas are celebrated with zeal and vigor thus inculcating in children a feeling of respect for all religions. Independence Day and Republic day is also celebrated with the hoisting of the Indian National Flag and skits on patriotism.
25th December is celebrated every year as the Founder’s day. On this occasion blankets, jackets and sweaters were distributed to all the children.
Russians and other foreigners are actively involved in the Society giving children a global understanding of things and their culture.
It was a proud moment for the Society when one of their students got selected in Computer Diploma Engineering in Otawar, Haryana 2012. The society is bearing all the expenses of the education. Two girls from the society are working in an export house and are earning well for themselves. This year two children have been selected for Diploma Engineering.
Some children were given free computer education and spoken English classes in the summer vacations.
Health is wealth and therefore free medical checkup of all children is done by Dr. Ruchira Mishra from Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon at regular intervals.
