About Gulzar Homestay in Danda, On the Salay - Murud Highway, Post - Nandgaon, Taluka-Murud, District-Raigad., Murud

Gulzar is a 20 acres farm situated between the Arabian Sea and the Salav Murud highway with the Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary as a backdrop. The property straddles an almost private beach which is bereft of other visitors as it is not visible from the road. On the farm are a variety of fruiting trees which include 150 Mango trees, 250 Coconut trees, Supari, Cashew, Lime, Jaiphal, Tamarind and a host of other trees along with at least 100 different varieties of jungle trees judiciously planted to lend an ambiance of a jungle frequented by a variety of natural life mainly birds. One can spot Hornbills, Eagles, Kingfishers, Woodpeckers, Bulbuls from the house itself.

The house built to accommodate our large family consists of a ground and upper floor, with two large rooms, two smaller rooms, a large hall, a self equipped kitchen, balconies and an acre of garden around the house well enclosed with a variety of tropical plants including orchids, begonias and other exotic plants and shrubs, where one can lounge in the shade or sun.

The rooms offered for guests are one large room on the ground floor with an attached bathroom and two rooms on the first floor with a lounge attached but sharing one bathroom. One large room on the first floor is reserved for the family. There is no television in any of the rooms nor is there any internet connection which takes you back to a certain old world charm with a small library and a music system for guests to kick back, relax and enjoy the peace that Gulzar ensures.

Guests are most welcome to use the kitchen to cook their own food or if all you want to do is relax, you can ask for an in-house cook. A thali from the nearby village can be arranged or you can drive to Murud’s local restaurants.

The owners are in residence most of the time.
