Once upon a time, we used to have fruits. In fact we used to love fruits!

We left no opportunity to break a coconut, bite off a sugarcane stick, peel an orange, slice a watermelon, cut an apple, bite a pear, squeeze grapes, swallow a banana...we really enjoyed every aspect of having a fruit. It used to be the best snack.

But now, we don’t have as much fruit. We have lots of other kinds of food, because it looks good or tastes good. Food that is made in factories and has an expiry date.

Wrappers have replaced peels. Factories have replaced farms. Convenience has replaced nutrition. Colourful packaging seems more attractive than the natural colour of fruits & vegetables. We prefer fast food over the slow ripening of fruits. We now don’t run towards fruits, but hide from them. We have them only when it comes to us, ready to eat, fresh and looping ripe and juicy. We rather even have someone slice it for us.

Let’s change that.

Let’s look back at fruits & vegetables with love. Let’s talk to them. Let’s thank them for being in our lives and appreciate what they have for us. Let’s gaze at their bright colours. Let’s smell their fragrance. Let’s hold them like they are ours. Let’s give them a bite of gratitude. Let’s relish their wonderful natural taste. It’s time we have food made in farms.
