About Inchara Crafts in 7, Basement, MN Towers, Kadri Shivabhag, Mangalore

Inchara Crafts is a dream child of Inchara Foundation (an NGO), which was born out of the love for handlooms and handicrafts of India and at the same time the fear of some weaves and crafts getting extinct. The aim behind the journey of Inchara Crafts is to revive the love for handloom and handmade products among the present generation.
Handlooms comprise the largest cottage industry in the country. What sets our handloom apart is the excellent workmanship, colour combination and fine quality. Indian weavers blend myths, faiths, symbols and imagination to bring an appealing dynamism to the fabric. It is the distinct form of art, weave and colour usage of the artisan that give every region its distinctive identity and uniqueness.
But at the same time it is being termed as the “sunset industry” because the picture in the ground is completely different. Thousands of looms are closing down because the next generation is not willing to take it up as a profession as it does not pay them well. And the reason for it is there are no buyers of handlooms or handicrafts. Inchara crafts pledges to support these artisans by promoting handlooms and handicrafts. Today the concept of handlooms being only for the elite can be overcome if more and more people come forward and buy these products.
