The Kuruvilla family of Kunnamkulam has been associated with dental practice for more than seventy years now!


Dr.Kuruvilla

Late. Doctor A.K. Kuruvilla pioneered the profession in erstwhile Kochi and Malabar state/ province. He founded the 'KuruvillaDenthaspathri' in the Nineteen forties at Chowghat near Guruvayoor, which was later re located to KunnamkulamTown.
Initially the young enterprising doctor even made house visits on his bicycle & Motor cycle.Late Kamala Suraya, noted Malayalam writer recalls in her autobiography, an incident of Dr.Kuruvila visiting their house and helping her grandmother regain her smile through dental treatment !

Dr.Rajan

Taking over from his father who expired in 1983, Dr.A.K.Raju, second son of Dr.Kuruvilla continued the good work of his father, and also established the first full-fledged Dental lab in Kunnamkulam. This lab provided service for the dental clinics not only in and around Kunnamkulam, but also to the dental clinics across the nearby states of Kerala.
He is also credited with diversifying the practise in to general medical field with specialists in various disciplines of medicine catering to the varied needs of the people.
From a single dental clinic, before his untimely death in 2012, he also added more branches making Kuruvilla Dental Clinics a house hold name in the vicinity.
Many a renowned dental surgeons presently serving across the world have got trained at the Kuruvilla Dental clinics at Kunnamkulam !
Currently the branches are maintained and effectively run by his sons and their family members.
