Paramhansa Jnanananda Trust (PJT)

Paramhansa Jnanananda alias as Probodh Chandra Bhattacharya a Hindu religious Preceptor and the founder and President of Jnanananda Sewasangha, a body corporate registered under the Societies Registration Act (Act XXI of 1860) and having its Office at 51, Madhu Roy Lane, East Block, in the Town of Kolkata, as President of this registered society, held a meeting on the 10th.day of September, 1972, and at this meeting it was resolved to authorise him to create a Settlement of Trust for the administration of all properties belonging to the President in his personal capacity. In the deed of settlement between the Settler and the Trust it was agreed that during his lifetime Paramhansa Jnanananda will be the President and the Sole trustee. On his demise, the other three trustees Tarapada Bhattacharya, Umapada Bhattacharya, and Ram Saran Mukherjee will administer the trust an all the properties under its care. The details of the properties are detailed in the Trust Deed. Broadly the following Ashrams and properties belonging to it are listed.

Bolepur Ashram
Jhargram Ashram
Kampa Ashram
Ranaghat Ashram
Betua Dohori Ashram and all adjoining land.
At the time of formation of the Trust under the direction of the Jnanananda Sebasangha, its own office premises at 51, Madhu Roy Lane, was a rented premises. Since then the society has bought the premises.
The three trustees were empowered to

To demand, sue for and recover all monies payable to and receivable by the virtue of the the presents of the Deed of Trust and to give effectual receipts and discharges for the same.
To prosecute, and defend the compromises of all actions touching the affairs of the trust.
To sign execute and register all deeds instruments and writings as shall be deemed necessary and expedient in the execution and discharge of the said trusts, uses and intents and to pay all expenses to be incurred in connection therewith.
And generally to act prudently in the matter and the benefit of the said Trust’s uses and intents.
Fill up vacancies to in the case of demise of any trustee.
Establish Ashrams and Maths for the objects and purposes mentioned in the Memorandum of Association of the Jnanananda Sewa Sangha.
On the demise of the first two Trustees Tarapada Bhattacharya and Umapada Bhattacharya, Ram Saran Mukherjee ran the affairs of the Trust on his own as the Sole Trustee. On the 14th.March, 2009, through a Deed of Declaration he appointed his two sons Mani Kanchan Mukherjee and Rajat Subhro Mukherjee as Trustees so that the work started by him during his lifetime may be continued through the Trust.
Ram Saran Mukherjee has since passed away on 20th.November, 2010. It is now left to the two present trustees to co-opt a third trustee to make the maximum of three trustees to run the affairs of the Trust.
During his lifetime, Ram Saran Mukherjee has added the following tangible assets for which the ownership vests in the Paramhansa Jnanananda Trust.

Apart from the routine annual activities, the primary task before the present Trustees and all the disciples of Ram Saran Mukherjee to complete the desired JISS through the steps required, and to raise the funds for this purpose.

You will see from the News section of this Web site that a movement has been started for social service to assist the process of Inclusive Growth and Development in our country by the creation of the Jnanananda Institute of Social Service details of which are given in the News section. The state of development of this project is shown through photographs of the land and building already constructed at Gangadharpur, of Howrah District, Panchla Subdivision.
We now request all philanthropic organisations and individuals across India and the world to help in any one of the following ways:

1. Make donations to assist this noble effort.

2. Extend other material help in any one of the following ways:
a. Help in locating retired teachers for the various subjects listed in the note in the News section, and / or offer your services for this activity.
b. Help in structuring the course material for the different subjects listed for this new (first time in India) educational discipline.
c. Help by suggesting various administrative measures required in running the classroom and practical courses.
d. Offer your services if you have the time and inclination, in the multifarious activities that are to be orchestrated to make a success of the two courses offered by JISS.
