Chhatim Books is a Kolkata based publishing house, focussed on Bengali non-fictional works centering Sociology, Politics, Economics, Liberal Arts & Culture.

The name ‘Chhatim Books’ is inspired by the Chhatim tree commonly found in Bengal. The Chhatim tree is at the heart of the creation of Santiniketan - the extraordinary educational and cultural cultural hub of Bengal, founded by Debendranath Tagore and later expanded by many luminaries of the time, led by the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

Chhatim Books has consistently excelled in production standards. Chhatim's authors, both established and new, are respected scholars in their own fields. Chhatim's publications are semi-academic in nature which enables academicians and serious readers alike, to enjoy reading them.

In May 2011, Chhatim’s book “Nyara bottolaye jaye kawbar?” by Gautam Bhadra, won the revered Ananda Puraskar. This book has won many accolades for Chhatim Books, but more importantly, it is being seen as yet another landmark for Bengali publishing, because of its depth of scholarly excellence as well as the standard of production.
