About Allahabad Bank in 2, N. S. Road, Kolkata

Allahabad Bank, the Oldest Joint Stock Bank of the Country, was founded on April 24, 1865 by a group of Europeans at Allahabad. It was during the period that organized Industry, Trade and Banking started taking shape in India. In 1923, the Head Office of the Bank was shifted to Calcutta on Business considerations. In July 1969, the Bank was nationalized along with 13 other banks. The year of 1989 witnessed the merging of United Industrial Bank Ltd, with Allahabad bank.

In June 2006, the bank established its global footprint by opening its representative office in Shenzen, China. In the same year the bank rolled out its first CBS branch. Its first overseas branch was opened at Hong Kong in February 2007. By the year of 2011, the bank implemented CBS in all branches successfully. The bank crossed bench mark the whopping business figure of Rs.3, 00,000/- crore and entered in & “Orbit of Large Banks”. The Bank celebrated its 150 years just a few years back in the year of 2014. Smt. Usha Ananthasubramanian, is the MD and CEO of the bank since May 2017.
