Suffee Commercial College was established in 1934 and was officially recognised and affiliated in 1935 to the then Government Commercial Institute. Since the formation of the Board of Commercial Education, Government of West Bengal, (under the Higher Education Department), the affiliation has continued and the College has often been referred to as a “model” institution.

With effect from June 2004 the Board of Commercial Education came under the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education and in July 2005 Suffee Commercial College become affiliated to the West Bengal Council of Technical Education.

The College is one of the few commercial colleges in India where students from all over India enrol regularly. It is truly a cosmopolitan institution where strict discipline is maintained and students study in the most congenial atmosphere. It’s recognition is international and by its affiliation to various leading international Secretarial, Management, Marketing, Accounting, Computing and allied bodies, the College is able to offer up-to-date education through the most modern methods of teaching.

The coaching arrangements are excellent and the teachers-in-charge are well qualified and experienced. We do not believe in deceptive stunt advertisements and “short” courses, but in systematic training. Our College Diplomas and Certificates are held in high esteem in Government and Mercantile organisations and are proof of competence and sound training.

Lecturers are selected for their qualifications and practical experience to enable the college to gain good quality, classroom-based education. We have a high employment rate amongst those who complete a given course.

Classes are small enough to enable teachers to relate to students as individuals and large enough to create a vibrant and cosmopolitan atmosphere.

As a private college we are able to control our own fee structure and it has always been our goal to offer students quality education at affordable fees while ensuring that merit based scholarships are available to deserving students. By controlling our own fees we aim to give students value for money when selecting us as their place of learning. We are available to help students with problems that arise during their studies.

We aim to build strong relationships with our students and many return to follow additional courses. Many more recommend that their friends and relations to study with us.

At present Suffee Commercial College is affiliated to the West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development for Certificate Courses in Advance Office Practice, Computer Application, Desktop Publishing, Financial Accounting, Office Computing and Front Office Management.

Suffee Commercial College is also an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Institution.

The College has been imparting Stenography Training to the Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe Candidates under the Special Coaching Scheme since 1989.

The College has also been responsible for conducting various Vocational Training for Minorities under the West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (WBMDFC) since 2011
