About Highway Garden Hotel in Nh Bypass, Padivattom | Edappally, Kochi

Lying in close proximity to the NH Bypass junction at Palarivattom, Highway Garden Hotel stands as a landmark within its vast area of 2 acres. For years it’s a hotel that always brings memories and joyful experiences to all our well-wishers, customers and he people in and around the locality. Highway Garden commenced with a humble beginning and started the drive in vegetarian restaurant. Nature also took its abode when a Horticulture Agricultural Farm was set up opposite to the restaurant. The Farm was abundant with saplings for both domestic purposes as well as commercial. Inspired by the location and garden, the name Hotel Highway Garden was adopted.

Ever since then, the hotel’s success thrived on the loyalty of all the well-wishers and customers. It was considered as asset to have an ample size of land and therefore the idea of constructing a hotel was recommended. With a unique selling proposition of constructing a hotel with a star classification during the early nineties, Highway garden welcomed this suggestion. During that time, Kochi had only a few hotel, thus Highway Garden finally made the idea concrete. In 1994, the construction of the hotel commenced. By 1995, the hotel was completed and had a grand inauguration at the end of the year. The hotel is a 3 star classified hotel with all facilities, catering to the taste and aptitude of the customers and guests. The hotel has 21 fully air-conditioned rooms. The room structure is divided into four categories: Superior, Executive, Deluxe and Suites. The hotel has a spacious banquet hall, conference and open lawn party facilities. The restaurant has a seating capacity of seventy guests and the tariffs are moderate.

At the hotel there are two bars, one is situated at the open lawns while the other one is on the ground floor which is fully air conditioned. The bar that functions on the lawn has a casual ambience where they can sit according to the comfort and enjoy the splendor of the lights and other decorations. By the end if 1999. The HGH management made their innovative excursion into an exploration of the much acclaimed tourist destination, Munnar. Setting up a resort at the elegant and tranquil location named Kallar, HGH introduced the resort, Forest Haven. This resort is approximately 15km to the North of Munnar and famously known for its bountiful cardamom plantation and breathtaking landscapes. The three- storied resort has 24 rooms, a recreation room and a restaurant that’s both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Staying close to its byline tete –a- tete with nature, Forest Haven provides facilities fror trekking and daily sight- seeing to Munnar. The Management also makes provisions for a camp-fire, entertainment in music. It ranges from western to Hindustani and can be enjoyed till night.

The success of this hotel venture and resort inspired the next idea, ‘ Kettuvallam’ . Kettuvallam is a seafood specialty restaurant on the KaloorKathrukkadavu road. In the year 2006 it was famous for the sumptuous seafood meals. This location was considered apt because it connected two important areas of Kochi, Kaloor and Kadavanthra. Having an advantage of being away from the shore, the restaurant instantly clicked for its menu.

Leaping into success, Kettavallam spread its tentacles and started at Kallor, opposite to the Jawaharlal Nehru International stadium. The restaurant was constructed in the shape of a houseboat, and the interiors was deeply inspired by art and the interiors of a boat. Customer could not stop raving about the style fish was prepared. Fishes such as Pearl fish, Promfret fish, Jew fish and other delicacies were the pampering dish for the Keralite’s palette. Apart from this, it also specialized in tapioca, ‘ puttu’, ‘idiappam’. The restaurant also bought a twist to pork, mutton, chicken and duck in the traditional Kerala style. The Chinese dishes were also a standout.

By the year 2013, the sea port – airport was the next big commercial hub of Kochi. Keeping in mind of the IT locality and the frequent travellers, Kattuvallam started its third branch at Kakanad. This restaurant is a part of Blue Chip Hotel, a unit of HGH.
