What is a homestay?

Homestay is an Indian phenomena started, in fact, here in Kerala and is supposed to have emerged from the times when we, Indians, considered (we still do!) it a huge honour to have guests – particularly foreign guests - in our homes.

Nowadays the concept has become wider and more a „bed and breakfast“ like - guests are accomodated in the family home, but in most cases (like our) they have their own entrance, facilities and they can spend as little or as much time with the host family as they choose.

In a homestay you will get a plenty of individual attention and local knowledge if you wish so. There is a chance to experience moments of Indian way of life in a close-up.

Be sure that you will be treated as guests and everything advised or offered to you will be from the heart and of best intentions.


What can we offer?

Our homestay has cozy, clean & spacy rooms to stay in while visiting. Each room has its own WC & shower, one of them is equiped with a bathtub, cable TV, two with A/C facility. There is also a triple room available - very suitable for families with a kid or smaller circles of friends.


Besides a comfortable room and bed, there are more services you can receive here in our homestay.


- Laundry facility. We collaborate with a washers collective called Dhobi Kana which is situated nearby (and is worth to visit and take a look at...);

- Help with local transportation – we will arrange friendly drivers both for the inside destinations within Fort Kochi and outside – to Ernakulam, other parts of Kochi, as well as outside the city.

- Organised and guided tours in both in Kochi, Kerala and other parts of South India. From here it is easy and conviennient to go to Allapey, Munnar, Peryare, Varkala, Madurai, Trichi, you name it... Antonio will help to plan and organise your tour.

- Back-water tours both in group or individual can be organised and booked.

- Tickets for the cultural performances as Kathakali, traditional music, morning meditation, dance, Kalarypayttu are available here .

- Free Wi-Fi;

- All the possible advices regarding the transport, shopping, prices, postal services, food, health treatments of necessary, ayrurveda etc.


We also run Tag Villa - a new accomodation in Fort Cochin, near our house at Mackenzie Garden. That is a three bedroom house suitable for smaller groups or people who wants to stay in FortKochi for a longer period.

Facilities included additional living room, A/C, breakfast, internet, fan, a small kitchen, fridge, and kitchen utensils.


We are situated in Mackenzie Garden, only 10-15 minutes walk from the centre and near to the Fort Kochi beach (800 m), right opposite the famous Naval Maritime Museum. Close to our house is an Ayurvedic health & massage centre.


Airport pick-up, scooter & bicycle, backwaters boat-trips, concert tickets (Kathakali, traditional indian dance & music, Kalaripayattu - Kerala Marshal Arts), breakfast – all available on request, but is not included in the room rate.


We organise kayaking trips, snorkeling, scuba diving and tracking trips in Kerala and are offering package tours specialising in several fields - Ayrvedic Health & Healing package, Kerala Tour package, South Indian Tour package. Durability and extension of the tour will be designed individually according to the interests of the guest.


Yoga clases available! Ask also about Kalaripayattu - ancient Kerala marshal arts and a special kalari massage.
