Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Sanatan Dharma Vidyalaya (Hindi- पण्डित दीनदयाल उपाध्याय सनातन धर्म विद्यालय) is a Hindi/English
Medium school situated in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. From class 1st to 8, the method of teaching is based on standards set by New Delhi's Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE); from class 9 onwards, it is based on standards set by Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP, or UP Board). The school provides secondary education up to
10+2 level. Prakash Narayan Vajpeyi is Principal.( प्रधानाचार्य -
श्री प्रकाश नारायण वाजपेयी ). School culture Students at the college are selected through an entrance exam. Each
year 2700–3000 students sit for the exam, of whom 92 are selected.
The institute has around 800 students, 25% of whom reside in the
school hostel. As recognised by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and educational boards. The school was named after Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (1916– 1968), who was India General Secretary of the Indian People's Alliance (Bharatiya Jana Sangha party) in (1951) and was elected its president in 1967. Upadhyaya is known for his idea of integral humanism (ekatma manavwad). The annual cultural festival is Varshikotsav (Hindi: वार्षिकोत्सव). It is held on the occasion of Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Jayanti on 25
September. The annual sports festival is held around the end of
January. A graphite statue of Upadhyay was established in the school on the
occasion of its Silver Jubilee (Rajat Jayanti) in 1995. THE INCEPTION :-

The foundation of this institution was the brain wave of a few illustrious individuals who endeavoured to keep the ideals and principles of Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya alive. The service to humanity and the need of inculcating Indian values in the coming generations led to the inception of this institution.

This Institution was fortunate enough to be blessed by eminent Shri Guruji and named after the great leader Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya. The foundation of this institution was laid by Shri Guruji on 23rd February 1970 on the land given by Shri Brahmavarta Sanatan Dharm Mahamandal. The institution is situated next to V.S.S.D. college which is the alma mater of Pt. Deen Dayal ji.


Before the construction of the present building, the initial commencement was made at Saraswati Shishu Mandir Tilak Nagar with a meagre strength of 24 students in class 6, on July 18, 1970 on the auspicious occasion of ‘Guru Prunima Sam vat 2007’. The present semi-circular double storeyed building located at Nawabganj was inaugurated in July 1971. The institution completed its 25 years in September 1995. Inspiration derived from the ideals of Pt. Deendayal ji, blessings from Shri Guruji and affection from Buji ji and Barrister Saheb has made it possible to commemorate its Silver Jubilee.

THE RECOGNITION :-

In July 1972 the institution got the recognition as Junior High School from the governing authority. In 1973 it was awarded the recognition as High School and in July 1979 as Inter College for the science stream by ‘Madhymik Shiksha Parishad U.P’

The option of CBSE board will also be available to our students in the next 3-4 years.
