The history of Bethel Evangelical Church is traced to the year 1967. It was then that the Late Pastor Gollapalli David Nehemiah was led to BHEL, Hyd. His calling was precise, to build an Evangelical Ministry that is based on Biblical Principles both in Teaching and Practice. Pastor Nehemiah’s flock was families living and working in BHEL Township. As the Church grew in size and maturity there was a deep desire to look for a permanent place of worship. Efforts began and finally a plot was identified in the heart of Chandanagar. God’s promise was that this would be the House of God-BETHEL (Gen 35: 1, 6 & 7). Hence Bethel Evangelical Church came into existence. Over the next few years it was completed and throughout this phase several new members were added to the growing church. Later an outreach center called Emmanuel Bible Fellowship was started in LIG, Ramachandrapuram which initially started as a home group.

Pastor David Nehemiah went to be with the Lord on the 28th of April 1994. An unforgettable and testing time in the history of Bethel Evangelical Church. However God has his time. God in His sovereign will chose and called his elder son Pastor Peter Samuel to take this ministry forward. For Moses was dead, but Joshua had to get up and lead this people.

The God of faithfulness kept pouring out His grace and mercy every morning, not only by sustaining the ministry but also helping it grow to what it is today. Bethel has evolved from being just a church into multiple ministries.
