Charminar is the world famous 400 year old mosque monument built by Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah.

Charminar, as the name stands has four beautiful minarets with huge arches. Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah, after shifting his capital from Golconda, another famous Indian fort, built this monument. Charminar is a famous landmark in India

It is a legend, Qutb Shah, in the year 1591 while founding the city of Hyderabad, prayed at the very spot and built the mosque with the starting of the century of the Islamic calendar i.e., 1000 A.H.

It is the centerpiece monument of old city of Hyderabad which was built around the monument. Very close to Charminar, other major monuments like Mecca Masjid, Unani Hospital, Falaknuma Palace, Chowmohalla Palace, Purani Haveli, etc., are built. On the nothern side of the Charminar is Char Kamaan, and also famous Gulzar houz. On the western side is the famous pearl and bangles street Laad Bazaar. On the eastern side is Sardar Mahal.
