Gundabala is a small village, located thirteen kilometers east of Honavar, in Karnataka state, India. It is situated on the banks of the Sharavati river covered in the lush evergreen forests of the Sahyadri Range of Mountains. By whose natural beauty has remained undiminished over the centuries.


Devotees take a vow to entertain the deity by sponsoring his favorite dance for a night, upon receipt of a favor such as a cure for infertility, request for marriage, or the recovery of a child from a life-threatening illness. The faithful are so enthusiastic that sponsorships must be reserved five years in advance. No admission is charged and performances continue whether or not an audience is present


Gundabala also called as Yakshagana Kashi the pilgrimage paradise and a scenic holy place, has recently shot into prominence as one of the loveliest spots in Uttar kannada. The tiny village of Gundabala, home to a huge Mukyaprana Laxmi Venkteshwar Temple , is also home to cultural activities. This is really a secular village and people of this small village live in harmony.


How to reach Gundabala : One can enter Gundabala from the Bangalore-Honnavar Highway through a specially erected big entrance decorated with intricate carvings(MAHADWAR).

The nearest railway station is located at Karki (Honavar). This is situated around 5 km from Honavar town.
Kumta is the nearest major railway station that is located near Gundabala. There are taxis that are available from outside the Karki (Honavar) Station. From Honavar, travelers can hire a taxi to the village of Gundabala. Buses are also available from Honavar to Gundabala .



Tourist attractions - Yakshagana is held here on every day (October To June) except during the rainy seasons. Some of the other places of interest in the are Jain basadi, Narashima temple haradasi. Mukti hole.
