About DBT Centre, BBCI, Guwahati in A.K.Azad Road, Gopinath Nagar, Gauhati

The DBT Centre for Molecular Biology and Cancer Research (DCMBCR) grew out of the initiative of the Dr A.C.Kataki, Directorof Dr B. Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI)to integrate research in modern biology as another dimension for a better understanding of the complexities of cancer.

When the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India called for proposals to augment the basic research infrastructure of medical institutions of the north-east . The institute was quick to respond to this opportunity and the centre was formally inaugurated in a new building on the 6th of February, 2010.

Currently (2013) DCMBCR had Five major research projects funded by national funding agencies DBT, ICMR etc
