About MH Dehradun in Uttarakhand, Dehra Dun

Uttarakhand is a newly formed State and most of the villages are in the mountains without basic facilities. Many Villages are very scattered due to its geographical design. There are no hospitals in the villages nearby and they need to travel minimum 40 kms down to Dehradun City to visit any doctors. No proper transport facility is available in the mountain area and local villagers need to accustom with their own transportation or by just walking long distances. There are neither any marketplaces nor any school nearby and children need to wake up early in the morning and walk almost an hour to reach schools. Schools do not have any basic facilities and it is also one of prime reasons for many school dropouts.
•Men and women mostly work in the farm fields and some work as labors. The main problem is Medical treatments and education and lots of migration is taking place in the mountain villages which is another matter of concern. Women want to learn some skillsets on self-employment; however, they are helpless to gain any skills because there is no such training institution in the mountain area. To learn Tailoring, Embroidery or Beautician courses, they need to come to Dehradun which is not affordable & feasible for them. Discrimination on lower cast system (ST/SC) exists in the village since ages.
