About Chennai Toastmasters in YWCA, Poonamallee High road, Chennai

Chennai Toastmasters (CTM) Club is one of the first clubs started in Chennai to develop public speaking skills. CTM is part of Toastmasters International (TMI).

Mission of the club: We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.

History Of Club: Started in 2006, CTM has been growing from strength to strength over the years.In fact, CTM is affectionately referred to as the Lighthouse club of the TMI in Chennai.

Several members of CTM have gone on to win public speaking contests at the national level and the CTM experience has helped many others in taking up leadership responsibilities in the organisation at the national level. Some of the members honed their entrepreneurial skills and have started new clubs in places where they have relocated to.

The club was spearheaded by the trio DTM Nina John, DTM Indira Jayaraj and TM Abraham with the able guidance of TM Chendil Kumar.

As one of the humorous speakers put it,

‘”CTM is like an ATM that produces DTM’s’’

(DTM – Distinguished Toastmaster is the highest recognition given to a member).
