Skill development is an instrument to improve the effectiveness and contribution of labor to the overall production.

The Government of Punjab accords highest priority to skill development of its youth and to make them employable. To provide momentum to the Punjab Skill Development mission, Punjab has earmarked an amount of Rs 267.92 Crore for skill development of 1,21,000 youth under various schemes.

In the past, the state has been following a fragmented approach to implement various skill development schemes leading to sub-optimal outcomes and lack of quality in its training programs. In order to implement skill development programs effectively, it is important to have a professional approach and the necessary organizational capacity to manage and administer various issues in connection with skill training.

The Punjab Government has been taking all necessary steps to ensure that the youth of Punjab is proficient to lead Punjab on the path to progress.
