Dear Parents,

I would like to welcome you all into the world of Shaheen by invoking the name of Allah, the most benevolent. Without his will and direction we could not have reached where we have and scaled the dizzy heights which we have. Our strong belief and total trust in the ideals intricately linked to Islam has helped us shape the perfect learning environment that’s a mix of the contemporary and the religious. I am sure it’s going to be a magical sojourn for you as we take a walk down the memory lane and have a peek at our future blueprint.

What started off as a visionary endeavor in a one room tenement accommodating 18 students way back in 1989 has now evolved into a major center of academic excellence touching the lives of more than 8000 students and 300 teachers engaged in creation of knowledge wealth from KG to Graduation levels. Apart from our mission of making quality education affordable to one and all there’s something else which kick started this success saga; our commitment to revitalizing the old glory of Bidar as a revered seat of learning. The historically rich district of Bidar, the erstwhile capital of the mighty Bahmani kingdom was also a centre of learning for two centuries catering to students from across the globe at Madrasa of Mahmud Gawan setup in 1472. Those were the days when Bidar was at the pinnacle of glory with recognition as a great seat of learning. Today we have taken it upon ourselves to reclaim the status of Bidar as one of the finest destinations for aspirants aiming for world class learing experience.

It all started when I was looking for a quality education hub for my younger sibling Abdul Hannan; my search was a futile exercise as I could not find a single standard academic institution in and around Bidar. That was the turning point which motivated me to give up my flourishing career as an engineer in Gulf and turn into an academic entrepreneur. Modest resources, a mountain of faith on Allah Ta’ala and a strong vision to shape a world class academic hub offering top notch facilities were my only capital. Today all of us feel vindicated looking at this magnificent Shaheen family which is rich in knowledge wealth and constantly espouses the philosophy of Allamah Iqbal. Shaheen is now marching on majestically imparting an ideal blend of modern academic knowledge and pearls of wisdom from the holy Quran. The group takes immense pride in shaping an ideal Islamic environment replete with Sunnah traditions that’s conducive to seamless learning. Shaheen is now poised for a giant leap by making its presence felt in Bengaluru, Gulbarga and Hyderabad.

The going has been great for Shaheen students across various streams, levels and disciplines. So far 480 students have obtained free government seats in professional courses including 79 in Medical and 355 in Engineering Colleges in 2013-14 which is a testimony to our excellence. In fact the last six years witnessed 1764 Shaheen students bagging free government seats in professional courses. The group’s relentless pursuit of perfection was recognized by the Government of Karnataka which conferred the state’s highest award Rajya Utsav in Education category to Shaheen in the year 2013. The impact of Shaheen’s competence can be gauged by the fact that more than 50% seats in the prestigious Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences are being consistently bagged by Shaheen students year after year. For the past six years, on an average every academic year more than 225 Shaheen students gain entry into Engineering courses in top end universities & colleges. Well that’s the magnitude of Shaheen’s profound impact as a result oriented PUC/Inter College. Shaheen offers multiple courses in Urdu, Kannada and English media for both boys and girls along with general courses in Science and Arts. In addition three separate 2 years integrated courses are conducted for CET Medical, CET Engineering and JEE IIT for PU science students in residential mode.

For selected students of secondary level, Foundation courses are conducted to prepare them well in advance for their chosen stream post +2 studies with special focus on Medical and Engineering. Another Foundation course is conducted for students of class-X for NTSE. For girl students five year integrated courses PU+BA are conducted along with Degree. Girls who enroll for BA/BSc are offered Diploma in Aalima (exemption for non-Muslims).

At Shaheen special attention is devoted to imparting valuable teachings from the holy Quran along with academics right from the pre primary classes. Adherence to the Sunnah way of life, following Islamic traditions and compliance with the ideals advocated by Quran form the basic components of the knowledge dissemination process at Shaheen. By class-III all students at Shaheen learn to read Quran with Tajwid. From class-III to Class-X mandatory classes on understanding Quran and Arabic language are hosted. Those who are interested to be Hifz, are imparted the course in three years period after class-III in which Maths and languages are also taught. On completion of Hifz they rejoin the mainstream via class-VIII and are tutored for regular Board Examinations and also competitive examinations for entry into professional courses. Children who undergo Hifz training generally show a tendency to succeed in all their endeavors which has been proven at Shaheen. An advanced Hifz+ course for students who have completed the Hifz course without any formal education has also been put in place at Shaheen. They are provided bridge course of two years duration and enrolled in class-X directly. These children are given further guidance till they are admitted in professional or general courses of their choice. This initiative is one of its kinds and unique to Shaheen.

A special coaching wing catering to the needs of academically weak wards has been deployed at Shaheen with a 1:4 Teacher-Student ratio. So effective is the wing’s functionality that even arts background students and science drop outs from class 12 have managed to secure admissions to Medicine or Engineering. A host of long term coaching sessions along with a one month CET crash course have also been deployed to enable maximum number of students to take a shot at securing seats in professional courses. As a reiteration of our commitment to minority empowerment & education we are also offering a one year course for admission into professional courses for +2 minority students free of cost (sponsored by Ministry of Minority affairs, Government of India). Along with focus on academic development students are also sensitized to the imperative nature of the Islamic way of life by ensuring wards offer Namaaz, keep Roza and adhere other religious commitments.
