Sri Sri Barasat Yogashram is an spiritual organization which forms the core of a spiritual movement (known as Yoga and Vedanta Movement), aims at the harmony of religions, harmony of the ancient and the modern, spiritual fulfilment with kriya-yoga, all-round development of human faculties, social equality, and peace for all humanity, without any distinctions of caste, creed, race or nationality.

Founded by Shriman-Maharshi Sutejananda Paramahansadeva (1910-2001), the chief disciple of Shriman-Maharshi Harikripananda Paramahansadeva (MuniBaba)(1860-1940) who in turn was the chief disciple of Shriman-Maharshi Gurudas Paramahansadeva (FakirBaba)(1816-1898) as a simple hermitage at Barasat, West-Bengal, India, through the efforts of his chief disciple Shrimat Swami Sushidhananda Maharaj (Present Guru Maharaj).

Sri Sri Barasat Yogashram is a monastic organization for men, brought into existence in India by Shriman-Maharshi Sutejananda Paramahansadeva the great saint of Erstwhile East Bengal. He started his monastic life at Shri Shri Gomdandi Yogashram, Chittagong, Bangladesh at a very early age under the guidance of his spiritual guru Shriman-MaharshiHarikripananda Paramahansadeva (MuniBaba) and he achieved success in his pursuit there itself. He left his mortal body in 2001 at Sri Sri Barasat Yogashram. Now under the leadership of his successor Shrimat Swami Sushidhananda Maharaj, one of the foremost thinkers’ and religious leaders’ of the present age, Sri Sri Barasat Yogashram still grows as a centre for the teaching of Yoga, Vedanta and Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and for service to all. Recently a new branch Sri Sri Omkar Yogashram is being established in Haridwar(under construction) as part of Sri Sri Barasat Yogashram under the supervision of Shrimat Swami Sushidhananda Maharaj Babaji.
Sri Sri Barasat Yogashram has two branches in India and one branch in Bangladesh. Sri Sri Barasat Yogashram (Headquarter) is situated in Barasat, Kolkata-700124, West-Bengal, India. Sri Sri Barasat Yogashram is responsible for administrative control of all the branches.

Now Kalikapur, Puipukur of Barasat, West Bengal, is glorious to have the devine chance of bearing on her bossom, the external statue of the of Supreme Lord of omni-potence and omni-presence.The sacred name of this Statue is Sri Sri Barasat Yogashram. No one knew that this plot of land at Kalikapur would one fine morning turn to be a sacred place of pilgrimage .The first foot-print was made in July ,1997 by buying the plot of land and setting the foundation stone through biding prayers in accordance to the vedic guidance. Our Reverend Gurudeva Shriman-Maharshi Sutejananda paramahansa deva was the founder of Shree ShreeBarasatYogashram. He was the disciple-son of Muni Baba he was known as Chhota-Maharaj to all. On the 18th May , 1998, our Reverend Gurudeva Shriman-Maharshi Sutejananda paramahansa deva gave the sacred touch of his feet to the ground-place of Sri Sri Barasat Yogashram and he stayed here till his final departure i.e.finaliternal rest .He was born on the 5th day of the month of Chaitra in 1318 Bangabda i.e. in 1910A.D.He departed from this mortal world on the 7thMagh of 1407 Bangabda ,that is on 21st January of 2001 .our Reverend Gurudev was the successful successor of Muni BaBa .He himself cut his life according to the life-code of Vedas and he left no stone unturned to motivate and inspire his disciples to observe and practise the said Vedic life-code. In thoughts he was Vedanticand in practical life he is Vedic.
