LeaP Years
-Learning Programs for Children
About Leap Years:
Leap Years is a special education centre committed to providing affordable, quality education to children with autism and related disabilities. It is an environment where children in the age group of 2 and 10 years can learn to the best of their abilities.
Leap Years will be the first centre in Bangalore to solely focus on academic learning in young children with autism. It is a pre-school for children with different abilities.
We endeavour to cater to the unique social, communication and educational needs of children with autism through providing/developing appropriate learning environment and materials.
The aim is to provide an environment to foster communication and academic learning in children with autism. The programme is intended to ultimately help mainstream children with autism:
Proven methodologies to inculcate learning readiness and impart academic learning
* Emphasis on sensorial learning through intensive one-to-one rapport with children
* Encourage independent learning through Montessori approach
* Academic learning opportunities on par with neuro-typical peers
Why the name LeaP Years:
It is an abbreviation for LEArning Programs.
Our target is children between the years of 2 and 8. It is an age that witnesses a quantum leap in the development of children: they learn to walk, talk, write and express themselves. A major leap in cognitive development happens during these early years.
Typically, from the time of early diagnosis (at about 18 months) till the age of 6 years parents run from pillar to post in the desperate hope of finding a ‘miracle cure’ for autism. The truth is that there is no cure. It is also true that children are certainly educable and do learn to be independent.
Through LeaP Years we urge parents not to ignore the area of academic skill development, which allows expression of the self in children with special needs.
