Muscular Dystrophy is a group of Genetic Disease characterized by progressive weakness and degeneration of skeletal and voluntary muscles which control movement and also affect cardiac and respiratory functions and other vital organs as well. MD is usually more prevalent in boys.

According to international statistics of muscle disease, the extrapolated population in India affected with MD is 4,23,500 people. Patients with MD are afflicted by lifelong disability and require high levels of family, social and medical care.

DART India plans to set up an in-house fully equipped and dedicated research facility for -

- Development and maintaining of Fibroblast cell line.
- DNA sequence studies for DMD and other related targets.
- Design an Antisense and synthesize them in mg scale.
- Antisense induction studies in the Cell line.
